Specification, rental and review methodology
Estimated markers apply to individual values not confirmed in that chip’s scoped vendor-document review. Unsupported means a recorded precision is unavailable; Not published means no rate is recorded. V100’s FP16-only rate stays separate from BF16.
Memory uses decimal GB (source GiB converted to GB); bandwidth uses TB/s. Maximum chip power excludes unpublished values and is a specification, not measured system consumption. Shipping now is the reviewed availability classification, not a live stock check. Available on demand means a tracked comparable on-demand quote exists; Any tracked price adds chips priced only under another billing model (Capacity Blocks or per-second serverless), which the Rent from column labels and never sorts with on-demand prices.
The recommended order lists shipping parts first, then ramping and legacy ones, each by dense BF16 compute, most first. Calculated columns (Columns menu) divide the cheapest on-demand price by dense compute ($/PFLOP-hour) or by memory ($/GB-hour), and divide dense compute by maximum chip power (TFLOPS/W) and memory bandwidth by dense compute (bytes per 1,000 FLOP; more bytes per FLOP suits memory-bound work such as token generation). Each uses the selected precision, BF16 when all three show, and stays empty when an input is missing.
Rental rates are USD per GPU-hour, or chip-hour for TPUs and Trainium. Provider, billing basis, source and observation date stay with each quote in Details. Software support, memory capacity, communication and workload shape affect actual performance; theoretical compute does not predict application speed.
Specifications checked . Scoped reviews cover 29 of 29 rows. Partial review on Oct 24: every row's launch month was re-checked against vendor releases, filings and launch posts, and every purchase-price estimate against named reports; a month is confirmed only where one of those sources dates it, and a price is shown only with the report it rests on. Six rows were added from NVIDIA's documents: GB300 NVL72, RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server, H100 PCIe, H100 NVL, GH200 and L4. The complete review of Oct 15 stands for every other field. No vendor publishes Trainium2 board power (the table keeps SemiAnalysis's estimate), a tensor BF16 rate for Maia 200, per-chip power for Google's TPUs, GPU-only power for GH200 or a dense tensor rate for the RTX PRO 6000. Each chip’s Details lists its dated sources.
Select 2–4 accelerators to compare specifications and tracked rental prices side by side.
Chips announced but not yet in this table, with each one’s stated availability, are on the accelerator roadmap.
Compare rental cost per unit of theoretical peak compute below, at BF16 and at FP8. Actual application speed also depends on memory, software, utilization and communication between chips.

Hardware research and cost assumptions
These broader charts provide historical specification and cost context. Memory capacity can limit which models fit on a chip; bandwidth can limit how quickly data reaches its compute units. The limiting factor varies by workload and software.

Electricity at full chip power
Static estimate · EIA data through May 2026
≈$0.05/GPU·hr (estimated rate)B200 (HGX) · electricity scenario
≈$0.07/GPU·hr (estimated rate)Instinct MI355X · electricity scenario
Electricity estimate at full chip power: approximately $0.05/GPU·hr for B200 (HGX) and approximately $0.07/GPU·hr for Instinct MI355X — TDP (1 kW / 1.4 kW) × PUE 1.2 × $0.0445/kWh industrial power in New Mexico, the cheapest tracked-cluster state (EIA ELEC.PRICE.NM-IND.M, est). This scenario assumes full-TDP draw for the entire hour; actual electricity use depends on the workload. It excludes host-server power, capital, cooling capex, networking, and margin.
Compute figures use dense tensor rates with FP32 accumulation. Vendor sparsity assumptions and FP16-accumulation figures can produce different headline rates; this comparison keeps them separate.
